Rehoming your pet
We always hope that pets can remain with their families, but we often receive requests from owners looking to relinquish them to the Shelter when they can no longer keep them or, sadly, don't want them. While we provide excellent care for every animal at our shelter, it is not a home. It is a stressful and unfamiliar place for an animal to be. If you need help rehoming your pet, please call the shelter in advance at (408) 686-3900. We will ask questions about your pet and the reason for surrender to try and help you keep your pet out of the shelter. If, as the last alternative, your pet does need to come to the shelter, we will schedule a time for you to bring your pet in so that animal care staff can meet him or her and gather the information that we need to find the best new home possible. We accept surrendered pets from the unincorporated areas of Santa Clara County and from the cities of Gilroy and Morgan Hill as space allows.
